July 8, 2016 witnessed the launch of a book by an 18 year old talented boy Vedant Bahri “Cheat it all”. The launch took place at the Fitness First lounge, Saket and was attended by alot of fitness-freaks and gym enthusiasts.
About his food Journey
Vedant shared his journey with the audience in an exclusive interview with Ishi Khosla. He told us how he got inspired by the Rachel Allen show and wanted to bake a Dutch apple cake but most of the ingredients weren’t available, so he decided to improvise on the recipe a little. He baked the cake in “dhokla pans” and that is how his culinary journey began.
On the title of the book
Vedant told us initially he planned on calling the book “Eat it all!” since it was a food book. But later he decided to make a book about food and health. The recipes include food items like pizzas, burgers etc which are essentially “cheat foods” or unhealthy food items. The challenge was how to add these cheat foods in your daily diet, yet not affecting the calorie consumption, hence the title “Cheat it all!”
My review on the recipes
I quiet enjoyed the Mexican Chia Fresca, it was really refreshing on the hot summer afternoon. When I went through the recipe, it was super easy to make. I quiet enjoyed the dips too from Feta dip to mango salsa, each and every dip was quiet refreshing and tasteful.
When I was reading the recipe book at home, I quiet enjoyed the vast variety of dishes that it covered. My personal favorite section were the drinks. From raspberry soda to tadka chhas, all the drinks were quiet easy to make. I quiet enjoyed the salads section too, its not that I haven’t eaten them before but the fact that all the recipes were compiled in one book, made it all so helpful.
Being a designer by profession, I HAVE TO HAVE TO comment on the book designing. Absolutely loved the food styling. Each and every dish was so well plated which made me want to try each recipe. I quiet liked the cover page design- refreshing and fun. Overall a fabulous job done by the whole team of “Cheat it all!”. Keep up the good job!
