Some views are truly mesmerising. Le Belvedere on the 20th floor of Le Meridien watches over the scenic beauty of Lutyen’s Delhi. A restaurant which has stood the test of time serving out delectable Chinese Grub for almost two decades now, Le Belvedere literally towers above others. Amid a stellar service trademark of the Le Meridien group, Chef Balkishan Chouhan is serving out some finger licking Chinese Food.
The elegant setting of the restaurant comes alive in the evenings with Joey’s band strumming out some blues and jazz. We try out a few of Chef’s special creations while sipping on a 2013 Chianti. We start off with a spicy prawn and lemon broth. There is a dash of lemongrass along with the acidity of lemon along with the fresh flavours of the prawns but its the searing heat from the chillies that clears up your sinuses in the perfect way possible.
Next in line are salt and pepper Jumbo Prawns and Lotus Stems. The jumbo prawns are a handful while the perfect crispness of the lotus stems impress a lot. The earthy, spicy heat of pepper sets you up for the mains.
Mains include prawns in a black bean sauce and stir fried chinese greens with burnt garlic. We accompany them with a burnt garlic fried rice. The earthy flavours from the black bean combine like a dream with the subtle flavours of the burnt garlic.
We end off our meal with a serving of decadent pancakes with a serving of vanilla ice cream.
The 20th floor of Le Meridien will forever leave behind a taste of the palate of Delhiites.
