Oscar Balcon is an Italian citizen with deep roots in the Emilia Romagna region, the land of his mother, and his mother’s extended family since generations. He has been in love with the food of the Emilia Romagna since childhood and indulged tasting it every day ever since. Professionally, Oscar pursued a career as a banker (just like Mr Pellegrino Artusi in his younger years). Together with his family he worked and lived in Italy, Switzerland, France, the Americas, the Caribbean, Asia and India. After retiring from a successful career in corporate life he is now promoting ARTUSI Ristorante. Apart from good food Oscar is also very passionate about Italian fine wines which he has been collecting with dedication for many years.

Oscar Balcon (O.B) My love for fine food, wines, and seeing people enjoying a meal while having a good laugh.
AT : How do you handle stressful situations and working under pressure?
OB : Stress is mostly a result of self-imposed rules, thus, set realistic objectives and be kind to yourself.
AT : What do you do at work that you enjoy so much you actually lose track of time?
OB : Having intelligent and fun conversations with old and new friends while enjoying good food.
AT : Where do you draw you inspiration from?
OB : Exploration of ancient cities and cultures, of course in Italy but across the continents too.

OB : Once you have found your own style, stay true to it, unflappable in face of new trends.

OB : The pasta strainer !

OB : Passion, Persistence, Patience.
AT : What’s your regular comfort meal?
OB : Without a doubt, home-made noodles with a well made Bolognese sauce.
AT : If you were to open a new restaurant, what style of food would you pick and where would you want it to be located?
OB : I would love to own a cafe by the Arabian sea.
