The Restaurant houses archaic pieces from all over India along with a modern live kitchen and top rate service. Steering clear of the usual Sushi and Sashimi, Chef Pinaki Swarnakar’s menu is something that will drive guests to Neemrana Fort Palace just to taste his offerings.
We start off with a cold Soba Noodles with Hayashi Dressing. The nutty buckwheat noodles play their magic in a sauce which piques your taste buds with sweet, sour, salt and strong hints of ginger. Add to that the icy cold temperature, this dish thoroughly warms you up for the meal ahead.
Where to find cold Soba Noodles in Delhi?
The crispy fried Vegetarian Tempura holds its place with the correct thickness of batter.
The Kamaboko Udon Noodles soup combines the watery flavours of the fish and crab meat dumplings with the earthy taste of Shimeji and Enokitake mushrooms. The egg drop on top adds a perfect mixture of fat and protein to it.
The Pomelo and Poached Prawn salad is a perfect combination of flavours and textures. The citrus from the Pomelo along with the fresh watery flavour of the prawns combines with the earthy mushrooms while the fibrous of the fruit and the crispiness of the French beans make a wonderful antecedent to the slimy mushrooms.
The main courses include a Kashmir valley Lamb Chops in a Qorma Sauce with Bombay potatoes and a Roast Chicken with Chimichurri sauce and mashed potatoes. A wonderful spicy flavour from the Qorma sauce will draw you in along with the subtly flavoured mashed potatoes.
But it’s the ending of the meal that makes you fall in love with Kanak Mahal. Pinaki lets out all his bongness into one creation as he creates a Mishti Doi Cheesecake with Gulkand Ice Cream. Made from locally sourced products, the decadent combination of Mishti Doi on a bed on ginger biscuits mixed with low fat yoghurt is heavenly. Add to that the Gulkand Ice Cream and you will have a dessert which will mesmerize you with its flavours.
Kanak Mahal definitely towers above a load of restaurants even in the Delhi NCR area. Chef Pinaki Swarnakar’s delicacies may soon be the talk of town.
