India Runway Week is an event organized by India Federation of Fashion Development (IIFD), featuring a bouquet of India’s budding, Gen Next and established designers. The event provides the perfect platform for the young designers to share the stage with establishes names in the Fashion Industry. It is India’s Youngest Fashion Trade Event. Currently, the event is in it’s fourth edition and the symbolic motto is ‘Youngest Fashion Movement’. The Summer edition of the event was held at Hotel Opulent, New Delhi, on April 10, 11 and 12, 2015.
The event was high on style, designs, music and setup and the crowd was great. It featured about 35 designers from all over India. Their collections had interesting and varied themes, and were very fashionable and beautiful.
The opening show on Day 1 was by Jenjum Gadi. His collection is called ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ and has been designed taking into account the desire of the bridesmaids to look beautiful without spending a bomb, and the need to not overshadow the bride in terms of traditional and heavy look. The collection comprises of Indo-western outfits, designed keeping in mind the different functions, times and themes of weddings.
Designer Masumi Mewawala’s collection featured elegant Indo-Western outfits and a lot of pretty pinks, with Swarovski crystals. Other designers who showcased their collections on Day 1 are Manish Patel, Vishala Shree, Megha & Jigar, Varija Bajaj, Anvita Deo, Rohini Gugnani, Mukti Tibrewal and Manish Gupta.
White Summer Collection by the designer duo Megha and Jigar displays elements of style and luxury. The fabrics are soft and textured, and the shades of blue, white and golden are used with a lot of metal embroidery. The collection is very feminine and chic.
The finale show for the day was by designer Manish Gupta. Pastel colours and floral motifs were the main highlight of his beautiful collection. A cute mascot carrying a sign with a social message of against the use of leather by PETA also walked the ramp alongside the models during his show.
Budding designer from Fashionista School of Fashion Technology showcased their collection on Day 2. The collection by the young student designers manifested a spectrum of tradition and modern ferocity. The collection by Kaaisha Studio by Shalini Gupta was graced by the showstopper actress Madhurima Tuli. Other designers for day 2 were Farzana Rahman, Ashfaque Ahmad, Rajdeep Ranawat, Deeksha Sharma, Surbhi Jain, Sanya Garg, Rifali Chandra, Jigar & Paneri Gosar, and Sagar Tenali who showcased their beautiful collections.
The finale day of the event was graced by Bollywood celebrities Amyra Dastur, Ajaz Khan and Taapsee Pannu, who walked the ramp for the designers. The collection of Designer Sameer Junaidi was portrait by Actress Amyra Dastur and Ajaz Khan, while the grand finale has actressTaapsee Pannu for designer Tanieya Khanuja. On the finale day collections by Vanica Chhabra, Govinda Raju, Neha Yadav, Sweta Kedia, Rahul Kapoor, Samyuktha, Anup Bisani, Suvagata Saha, Bani Khuranna, Akassh K Agarwal, Moet Barar & Rajni K Sethi were also showcased the received the appreciation from the fashionistas. The gen next designer Rahul Kapoor was amongst the most liked designers during the Runway Week.
