Hyatt Hotels India, carried out its first one of its kind culinary cook off, called “The Hyatt Culinary challenge – people cooking for people” across selected Hyatt properties across India in October 2014. This unique competition brings together people from the corporate circuit to showcase their culinary expertise where each individual will be teamed up with a child from SMILE foundation which is Hyatt’s partner NGO and will execute a recipe for the judges in an interactive competition.

The event will be staged annually and the second edition of this event is currently underway as preliminary rounds are being carried out in the Hyatt hotels in Bangalore, Chennai, and Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata and the finals will be held in Mumbai in late November 2015.

Team Salt and Sandals was invited for the cook off event which took place In Hyatt Regency, New Delhi on the 1st of November 2015. The Oval Room of the Hyatt regency where the event was carried out was given the perfect setting on the bright day. The 11 participants were allotted their stations which looked clean and organized. The panel of judges included Mr. Sourish Bhattacharya who is a well known food columnist and restaurant critic with Rinku Madaan, former editor of Times Nightlife guide and food stylist Deeba Rajpal along with Mr. Haim Levy who was the winner of the 2014 edition of the competition.

After an 80 minute cook off challenge the winner was announced, Mrs. Chabbi Mukerjee wife of Mr. Anand Mukerjee GM, Empire Industries who cooked an authentic Bengali fish preparation with all her experience. The runner up for the title was Mr. Sanjay kapoor from the Bace Marketing.

The event concluded with a lavish High Tea buffet organized by the hotel which was loved by one and all who attended the pleasant evening. All eyes on the grand finale now.
