The food of Delhi has been a centre of quite a few long drawn discussions. The multicultural influence has bestowed Delhi with a cuisine that has piqued the palate of many. Dilli 32 at the Leela Ambience Convention Hotel slowly but steadily emerging as one of the best restaurants to dish out a stellar variety of regional Indian food. Continuing along the Grand Trunk Road, we reach the heart of Hindustan, Delhi. With the absorption of multiple dynasties, Delhi food has been most influenced by the Mughal empire followed by the post partition influx of refugees. In this festival, Executive Chef Rohit Tokhi along with Chef De cuisine Ashwani Kumar Singh bring back memories of yore from old Delhi. The buffet spread in for dinners will cost INR 1232++ which will take you through the food of the Mughal royalty, the Baniya business community and the post partition era refugees.
We cool ourself off with a Gulab Ka Sherbat and Chattu and Gur Ka Sherbat. The starters consisted of a delicate Burra that peeled off easily from the bone while the Anmol Roast Chicken pays homage to the small shop by a similar name in the Jama Masjid area. The Katthal ki Shammi will make every vegetarian proud. The mains start off with one of my favourite breakfast, Bedmi Poori with Aloo Ki Subzi where the subzi has the controlled balance of heat and sourness. We accompany some Rann e Jahangiri, Aloo Gosht ka Salan and some Chicken Changezi along with soft fluffy Khameeri Rotis and Sheermal. We finish off with some decadent Jalebi, Aam Khand and Rabri.
So, this summer season, try out the Delhi food festival at Dilli 32, Leela Ambience Convention Hotel as you talk a culinary walk through the pages of history of Delhi.
