The Octoberfest is one of the most gargantuan European festivals. Although it draws its origins from the early 19th century when it was a celebration to commemorate the marriage of King Ludwig with Princess Therese. It stated with a tasting of a few wines and beers and since then has evolved into a folk festival filled with Bavarian food, music and beer. But since you aren’t heading to Europe any time soon, doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the festival. The Grand Hyatt Mumbai recently organised the Octobierfest which is bringing this Bavarian festival to town.
This is their second season and seems like a grand launch. They have many German brews at the bar, sauerkraut, frankfurters, bratwursts and other German delicacies from the Chef and some German traditional games and activities. Along with a live band which keeps the guests on their toes and plans to make everyone dance to their tunes, they achieve to create a wonderful atmosphere around.
What we tried out at the Octobierfest?
The White Zen I tried was crisp, light and refreshing for a balmy evening in Mumbai. Along with the various kinds of German delicacies crafted and curated by the Chef himself, it is an admirable attempt to replicate the German festival in Mumbai. The band was very interactive and tried to engage the audience with a cute Birdy dance from German traditions. There were beer drinking games as well. For desserts, of course, the black forest cake was there among other options as well.
