Glenfiddich the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky just organised the India edition of the World’s most experimental bartender and it made us fall love with cocktails again. With a plethora of Bartending competitions going around, this stand out using the charismatic Glenfiddich single malt whisky as it’s base. With Glenfiddich seeking a broader audience the young cocktail living crowd of India, this compression comes at a perfect time.
The format of the competition also made for quite an interesting combination. Every bartender was paired up a collaborator who put his ideology into the drink. There were some eclectic concepts that the alcohols produced. A spin off on the Old Fashioned, a room temperature cold brewed coffee based cocktail or honey spiced ice which melted into a Glenfiddich 15 year old.
In the end, the competition was won by the maverick duo of Prateeksh Mehra and Brijesh Vyas. They now get the opportunity to spend a few days in the Scottish distilleries Glenfiddich siding in the highland traditions. The food was also paid marvellously by another maverick, Chef Pritam Chatterjee of QLA. With the Glenfiddich 26 years coming to India, we hope that William Grant furthers their foray into the country and makes us enjoy more of the golden tipple.
