Our trip to the Heiwa Heaven resort in Jaipur brought us close to the fanfare that Rajasthani food is. Although most of us many misconceptions about the food of Rajasthan, the flavours are something that are familiar to the palate. Heiwa Heaven being a purely vegetarian resort exposes you to flavours you might have missed out being a non-vegetarian. Read below to find out what our Editor, Sudipto De enjoyed at the resort?
We tell you 5 Rajasthani vegetarian dishes that you must try.
Dal Baati Choorma: The combination of Dal Baati Choorma is known all over the world. But it still surprises you with the plethora of flavours that it leaves on the palate. The hard yet crumbly texture of the Baati along with the luscious rich flavours of the daal is something that you’ll remember for long. Two different types of choorma adorn our plate as we sit down to eat like royalty.
Ker Sangri: The desert lands create harsh climates but nothing survives more than the legumes of Rajasthan. Dried up they stay for long periods of time and are construed into a spicy dish. A dish that portrays the hard toil that the land demands.
Aloo Pyaz ki Subzi: Two simple ingredients combining to form a dish par excellence. Florets of the onion along with small pieces of the potato combine into a dish that exemplifies sweet and spicy flavours.
Methi Malai Makai: One of the highlights of our stay at the Heiwa Heaven, this creamy sweet dish of corn and methi goes like a dream with Missi Rotis
The chutneys and Achaars: The pride of Rajasthani cuisine, their fiery red garlic chutney set fire to quite a few number of palates. The home made Amla and Ker ki achaar left a delectable mark on the palate.
Try these dishes out at Nirwana Woods, the vegetarian restaurant at Heiwa Heaven. The restaurant is an one stop shop for all your culinary needs during your stay. Their biggest accomplishment though is the decor of an authentic Rajasthani setting for a royal meal.
