FROM DRINKS TO FOOD, EVERYTHING IMPRESSES
We started with Avalanche, a perfect blend of mint, ginger, lime and sugar and Thai House Virgin Margarita. It had a spectacular melody of passion fruit and kaffir lime on crushed rice with lemongrass imparting its rich fragrance. The liquor license is on its way but the mocktails are so good, they leave you asking for more.
The menu has all the dishes explained for the customers’ convenience and the staff is ever ready to help. Greeted with wafers accompanied with two chilli based dips, that was the Thai version of the desi chakhna. From the salads section, we tried the Yum Sum O or Thai Pomelo Salad which is a very traditional dish with not so subtle flavours. Pomelo along with fried onions, tofu, peanuts and garlic in lime juice and salad dressing was a refreshing start. Kaem Pla Tuna Ob Sauce or yellow fin tuna glazed in homemade red curry is also a great snacking option with the bursting flavor of ginger and garnished with lemongrass.
Next arrived the grilled Jumbo Prawns which were very fresh and prepared to perfection. Gai Kor Lae or southern style Thai grilled chicken is quite rich in spices with a thick marinade and served on a banana leaf. The presence of tamarind and cinnamon impart a delicately sweet flavor to the dish. Talay Nahmprik Pao or stir fried mixed seafood in chilli jam is a mélange of flavours such as sweet, tangy, salty and spicy. This one was moderately spicy with prawns, shrimp, calamari etc. Another flavourful dish was Kung Phad Cha from the Wok Thai Style section comprising of stir fried prawns with green peppercorn and basil sauce.
Ping Ngob, another sinful delicacy was basically rustic fish marinated with red curry paste and grilled in a banana leaf which prevents it from burning and helps retain the juices. Grilling in a banana leaf also imparts a certain flavor and aroma to the fish. The presentation was perfect and the flavours were right on point. From the Land of Curry, we tried Geng Krua Kae Sai, spicy jungle curry of lamb and assorted greens which had very subtle flavours of the spices and Gaeng Gari Gai, Thai sweet curry of chicken and baby potatoes with hints of coconut. Both were paired excellenetly with jasmine flavoured sticky rice. The latter is highly recommended for its texture and taste.
Thai House has also managed to turn the table for desserts. Desserts don’t have to be boring and common. Therefore when we were served this mindboggling fusion of chilli and ice cream topped with chocolate sauce, we could not have been more surprised and delighted. Mango Mousse served here is one of the best we had in a while.
Definitely worth adding on to the list for must try Thai food joints if you are a Thai cuisine lover and otherwise. Go ahead and indulge in the fine dining experience of Thai House by Kylin.
