A whisky pairing that blew our minds away. Delhi NCR is seeing a surge of tasting events with Indians learning a great deal about how to enjoy their drink instead of getting sloshed on it. Liquid Sunshine, owned by whisky mentor Anchal Kaushal is one such instrument, holding whisky appreciation events all over the country.
We were lucky enough to attend her recent food and whisky pairing at Lodi-The Garden Restaurant. Lodi has always been a place that has impressed us thanks to the farm to table concept. We give you some of the awe inspiring pairings that took place that night. Eyes Wide Shut was a blind tasting which is an unique concept as the shutting of eyes heightens other senses. Each of these was preceded by a flavour tray which had exact aroma ingredients like apples, vanilla, flowers and lime.
Food Whisky Pairing
The GlenLivet Founder’s Reserve paired with a spicy raw papaya salad from Thailand with shallots and peanuts.
The Jameson Irish Whisky was paired with a soy, honey and cilantro marinated chicken which threw out flavours of sweet and salt in every single bite.
The Chivas Regal Extra Blended was paired with a red snapper cooked to perfection in white wine.
But, it was again the dessert that blew us away. An Aberlour 12 yr combined with a chili and chocolate pudding.
