This week was quite interesting indeed. We first headed out to the Royal Thai Embassy for a meal with His Excellency Chutintorn Gongsakdi as he promotes the beauty of Thai food in Delhi. Then we followed it up with a Malayali food festival at Taj Dwarka. Then there was a Glenfiddich pairing with the Italian food at Artusi, GK 2 and finally, we finished the week with an Indonesian Food Festival at The Leela Palace New Delhi with His Excellency Sidharto.
Aug 5: Dinner with the Thai Ambassador at the Royal Thai Embassy.
Thai food has been a favourite of ours for quite some time now. With flavours that range from sweet to sour to spicy, Thai food is definitely something that has been topping our charts since the time we have started writing about food. We were recently invited by His Excellency Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi and his better half to the Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi as he welcomed Chef ML Kwantip Devakula, one of the judges of Masterchef Thailand for us to try out some of the best of Thai food. You can read more about our Thai meal here.
Aug 7: Culinary Tour to Malabar at Indus Express
This was my first visit to the Vivanta by Taj Dwarka and I was quite blown away by the flowing architecture of the hotel. With Chef Gautam Mehrishi handling the kitchens here, I headed over there to try out the Malabari Food Festival that featured quite a few of my favourites including the quintessential Appam and Stew along with quite a few non-vegetarian dishes including a mutton roast and curries. Indus Express and the Vivanta by Taj Dwarka are definitely places I am coming back to again.
Aug 8: Glenfiddich pairing at Artusi, GK 2
Glenfiddich has been organising quite a few lovely events for quite some time now. But recently they did a pairing of their Expressions range with some Italian food over at Artusi Ristorante, GK 2. There were quite a few spicy variations of the Glenfiddich 12 yr paired along with the lovely food. There was a baked dish of Cheese, Leeks and Proscuitto combined with the Glenfiddich 12 yr and the elixirs followed by an Angel Hair pasta in Artusi special sauce combined with the Glenfiddich 12 yr. The mains consisted of Grilled Lamb with sides and the Glenfiddich 18 yr while the final dessert, a Panna Cotta had my favourite 15 yr paired along with it.
Aug 11: Indonesian Food Festival at The Leela Palace New Delhi
Our final visit of the week was to The Leela Palace New Delhi as the Indonesian Ambassador Sidharto and Mrs Dewi Ratna Suryodipuro called on us to experience the best of their food. There was a delectable Gado Gado which is a salad filled with eggs, potatoes, nuts and many others. There was a tasty chicken soup along with lamb curries and a Soy dish that I tried out. But my favourite part of the evening was trying out the Green Pandan pancakes and the Caramel flavoured ice-cream.
