Located just before Blue Frog, the ambience of this restaurant is beautiful.
Strangely though the outdoor seating (on the ground & first floor) looks more appealing than the indoor seating. Unfortunately despite the large fans, alfresco seating in sweltering Delhi heat is not worth trying.
Located in Mehrauli, behind the Qutub Minar and along-side Blue Frog and Olive Bar & Kitchen, It’s also the first restaurant along the Mehrauli road, which tells us that Cherie enjoys the luxury of a really great location.
The Place :
Cherie has a gigantic courtyard, great indoors and a beautiful terrace . So one can easily make a reservation and pick what suits your mood.Large window, white walls ,green plants and a location pretty close to the main road gives you a villa feel when you are at Cherie.
Food Talks
There are somedays when we are desperately craving to have a particular cuisine and that day Lebanese was the call.
For starters we ordered Duck Arancini , non veg Mezze platter and Falafel wth Pita breads.
Cheri’s steamed Duck Arancini was a complete disappointment. I am really fond of eating ducks but this one failed to satisfy my taste buds. A very simple dish which had steamed duck stuffed in fried arancini rice balls.
Next to follow it was their Non veg mezze platter consisting of chicken dukkah which was very chewy. chermoula basa was fresh and soft but it did not consist of proper marination which is the main essence of a dish.Lamb souvalki skewer was the only main highlight for me in the platter. The Hummus was a bit disappointment as I generally like it with lot olive oil, red chilli powder and garnished with olive and this one was no where near it. the baba ganoush was equally a disaster, It was strange that they were not serving falafel along with a mezze platter and we had to separately order falafel with tabouleh which was refreshing.
Coming to the mains Spicy Pepperoni pizza was sounding like a joke it was neither soft or crunchy and something in between. It lacked in flavor and as well as texture. My friend even pointed that the quality of pepperoni used was not upto the mark.
Coming to the Cajun Crusted Basa , The pepper and butter sauce combination failed to do any wonder with the dish. Agin kudos to them for serving fresh basa and even the veggies served along were nice but the main sauce which was the lifeline of dish failed to satisfy us as it was not rich in flavors.
For desserts we thankfully tried their Drunken Tiramisu on recommendation of our server and to my surprise It turned out good. Coffee soaked in ladyfinger and layered with mascarpone cheese was really sinful.
In a nutshell 3/5 to Cherie’s full marks when it comes to Location and the Ambiance but they really need to work on their food and I am damn sure this place can give a real tough time to Olives which according to me is still the undisputed king of Mehrauli.
