Chef and food writer X. Marcel Boulestin once said and I quote “ The pleasure of eating something because it is expensive has absolutely nothing to do with the taste of good cuisine.”

This quote is completely reiterated by Chef’s Basket which is serving ready to eat bouquet of dishes and cuisines right at your door step.

I normally like to focus on restaurant reviews but given that we were busy launching our new website and working till late, we decided to review some of ready to cook recipe kits.

It is said that food tastes best when prepared with fresh ingredients. The same has become easier in today’s rat race because of initiatives like Chef’s Basket.

Chef’s Basket, is a startup company which was co-founded by three IIT Mumbai alumni in 2012; as I have already mentioned their objective is providing a fine-dine experience at home through their ready to cook Gourmet Recipe Kits from various World Cuisines. The best part about their products is that they have all the ingredients required, given in adequate proportion. They also provide us with the recipe which makes it convenient to cook. I have been informed that it is authentic and is 100% natural and the shelf life is 9 months.

Chef’s Basket Recipe kits have a variety of world cuisine ranging from Italian, Thai and Mexican cuisine. I recently tried Chef’s basket Thai kit ‘Thai Green Curry and Jasmine Rice’.

Thai Green Curry

The Ingredients in their Green Thai Curry are :-

  1. Green curry paste
  2. Coconut cream powder
  3. Peppers and Babycorn mix
  4. Bird eye chilli infused sunflower oil
  5. Jasmine rice
  6. Thai herbs and spice

The curry was aromatic. The backbone of a green curry paste is, of course, the chillies, which give it its colour. I could taste all my favourite elements like lemon-grass, kaffir lime, galangal, and coconut milk. Jasmine rice was fragrant too. Curry wasn’t too green and vibrant in colour, which meant that it did not have any artificial colour.

In a Nutshell 4/5
