It was the Parsi New Year a few days ago and we headed off to the Soda Bottle Openerwala to experience https://saltandsandals.com/lost-parsi-recipes-chef-anahita-dhondy-sodabottleopenerwala/Chef Anahita Dhondy’s Parsi Bhonu. As this is the 5th anniversary of Soda Bottle Openerwala, there have been quite a few interesting promotions about which you can read on my blog: the Crab and Rum festival and the Lost Recipes.

The Parsi Bhonu features a Thaali which has some of the best traditional Parsi dishes that I have tried out. But what interests me quite a bit is the plethora of additions that I find on it. There’s a Carrot Achaar that has an unique mix of sweet and chilly, a flavour that I enjoy quite often even back home along with a Kachumbar and Sprouts salad, some pickled vegetables and a cooling raita with mint and cucumber along with some crispy Sabudana Papad too.

I start off with the Chicken Pattice first which is a mouthful of flavours, uninterrupted by additions. For the Butter Peas Pulao and the simple Ragi Roti, there is a creamy Prawn curry and some Sukhha Mutton to boot. For the vegetarians, the curry is Paneer along with a Dal to accompany it all. For dessert, there is some Falooda and Baked Caramel Custard to try out.
