Although Snigdha is the photographer between the both of us and uses a kickass huge pro DSLR camera, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like using a camera. I am always on the lookout for a camera that is both compact yet user-friendly. I recently came across the newly launched Canon 200 D which fulfilled pretty much everything I desired. It has become my new partner while working on food, travel, and beverage and this Canon 200 D review will tell you why.
Light and Compact
One of the primary reasons that I enjoyed using the Canon 200 D is that it’s lightweight and compact finish. Now one of the lightest DSLRs on the market, it is perfect for someone looking to transition from a camera phone to the pro league. Its sleek design ensures that I can carry it around on my restaurant reviews without weighing me down. The grip will work for small sized hands with my little finger sliding down the grip. The smooth leatherite grip offers quite a comfortable hold while the carbon fiber body ensures that it can take a few knocks along the way. The majority of buttons and dials for changing the settings are on the right side allowing for easy changes when trying to experiment and learn the manual mode.
The photos and the shots
The Canon 200 D uses a 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor with Canon’s latest DIGIC 7 image processor. Not only does it allow for a full manual mode, it also offers good options for newcomers in form of Scene Intelligent Auto Mode as well as 11 scene modes that make for some crisp pictures. These can be easily selected from the mode dial. The dual pixel AF makes sure that even low light shots come out pretty detailed.
Screen and the video making
The multi-angle screen allows me to click shots even from the unlikely of angles as it sits flush back in the back of the camera. I can check out my pictures with the super responsive touchscreen that allows me to zoom and scroll through the images. As a travel influencer, making videos has become quite paramount. I used the Ultra-HD recording mode on the Canon 200 D and came out quite happy with the results.
Solid Battery Life and Wi-Fi
When traveling with Tourism Boards, a camera’s battery life is paramount. The Canon 200 D ensures around 650 images through the viewfinder and around 250 images live which is enough for 2-3 days worth of photography. This camera also allows for the transfer of images and videos instantly so that I can finish up my social media and turn in early for the night after a long hard day at work.
Priced at around INR 40,000, the Canon 200 D is my perfect partner for travel, food and beverage writer and should be one camera you must try out while transitioning from a mobile phone camera to a DSLR. Do check out some of the images I captured on the Canon 200 D.
