The second book in the Code Red series by Om Books International in the first Vampire series brings our Vampire-Human mercenary close to the fight he has been fighting for so long. Ardhendu Bose, our vampire turned killer machine faces the rest of the clan after killing of their leader, Colton White.
Ardhendu Bose is your run of the mill corporate honcho who starts working in RED Inc. Finally realising that it is a front for vampires to harvest humans for their blood, he tries to run but eventually gets caught and turned into a vampire. His father, Dr Amitava Bose a pioneer in vampire studies trains him to control his thirst for blood and medicates him turning into a rampaging, killing machine. This book focuses on a congregation of Vampires from all over in the Amazon rainforest as Ardhendhu battles time, betrayal and power games.
The novel takes a closer look at the true nature of the human species as Ardhendu fights to understand which side to remain on. On one side, are the ever greedy weak humans destroying Mother Nature to fulfil its hunger of commercialisation or the predatory Vampires who sought make us the prey. The book revolves about his inner demons as he races to fulfil what he set out to do.
With language which becomes a bit too flowery at times, Shantanu Dhar’s second book in the RED trilogy is an one time read on a journey.
