It is always an exciting and a unique experience dining at the SodaBottleOpenerWala. This quintessential café has been reflecting Mumbai’s culture of the legendary Parsi eateries in a contemporary style since it threw opened its door in Delhi NCR. The restaurant which nurtured under the brand name of The Olive group owned by A.D Singh has a number of outlets throughout the country.

We were recently invited over to try their special valentine menu crafted by Chef Anahita Dhondy for the week that started 14th February which was called “The Bambaiyya Love Tiffin” to celebrate the season with a spirit of Bombay where tiffins of home cooked food are packed by the women which are delivered to their working husbands by the dabbawals of Mumbai. The selection of dishes showcased in the Non Vegetarian and Vegetarian Bambaiyya Love Tiffin are packed in a steel dabba or tiffiin and guests are encouraged to try these for a one of its kinds Bombay-Irani experience. Ten dishes which are a mix of soups, appetizers, mains and desserts comprise the Bambaiyya Love Tiffin.

Starting off with the personal favourite drinks, PARSIANA and MASALA COLA, we were first served Mumbai’s specialty street food bhelpuri with a makeover, THE SEAFOOD BHEL, with a twist by adding calamari, squid and Rawas fish accompanied with tamarind and mint water. The vegetarian meal starts off with the CORN BHEL. Next served is the SCOTCH BROTH FOR THE BOMBAY SOUL, a healthy and mild flavoured soup with carrots, French beans and barley, with a touch of Maharashtrian thetcha. CUTLIS, the heart shaped crumb fried cutlets having deep beetroot colour were served with SANJU BABA CHICKEN, a recipe created by none other than actor Sanjay Dutt, chicken cooked in whole spices nicely wrapped up in onion masala. PANEER SANJU BABA was the vegetarian version of the dish. THE BOMBAY BIRYANI was more like a pullao cooked with whole grain rice and Parsi flavours. The dessert offerings in the love tiffin are the decadent KALA KATTA CHEESE CAKE and FERRERO ROCHER CAKE,  which left us wanting for more.
