Food Talks
Birdie Num Num brings regional Indian cuisines and flavours to Gurgaon in its comforting yet eclectic menu inspired by the tales and travels of ‘Birdie’. Owner and Chef, Yuvna Damani brings the comfort of childhood memories on a plate. The restaurant takes you on a culinary experience with it’s impressive selection of delectable dishes and a variety of quirky cocktails, with each recipe inspired by the mascot of the brand, Birdie. Homely indian food made from family recipes or from authentic recipes of remote Indian regions, the food is made with the most aromatic Indian spices and celebrates Chef Yuvna’s culinary history. We started off with Bhoot Jholokiya Chilli Cheese melt. A delicious company to my drink with fiery bhoot jholokiya in it which is considered as one of the spiciest chilli in the world after Habanero from Mexico. Following it was the Stuffed Snake-gourd which was served with mashed potatoes and tamarind sauce.
The main highlight of our meal turned out to be Kasundi Scotch Egg, boiled eggs and kasundi mutton mince that’s crumb fried and served with kasundi aioli. Also on the menu are unique cocktails curated by founder Yuvna Damani Panwar & Delhi’s leading mixologist Nitin Tiwari (Ek Bar, MTV Flyp, Grey Goose & Bacardi India). Must try includes The Magic Egg which combines Bourbon Whiskey, an egg and some magic. We ended the journey on a sweet note with Deconstructed Rose Tea Cake that deserves a special mention for its underrated flavours with an equally exquisite Coconut Creme Brûlée.
In a nutshell, Done up in a breathtaking white and blue theme, the interiors are welcoming and cosy. The one word that can describe our experience is “Overwhelming”. The menu has been smartly curated keeping in mind the flavours across the country. The use of fresh, locally procured ingredients add more charm to it. The brainchild of Chef Yuvna Panwar and Mr. Sudhanshu Panwar is one of the most promising restaurants that we have currently in Delhi/NCR.
