Delhi got a chance to taste some authentic flavors of Gujarati cuisine with Maharaj Ranchod at Hyatt Delhi. For my convenience, he curated a thali for me, so that I could try all his Gujarati delicacies. What really excited me, were the ingredients that Maharaj Ranchod specially carried with him from his hometown in Gujarat. I believe real ingredients always taste better. The “besan” or gram flour that Maharaj Ranchod carried with him, from his hometown, made all the difference in the taste of the dishes.
Maharaj Ranchod’s menu
In appetizers, I ate “dhokla” and “kachori”. The “kachori” had tuar beans stuffed in it and had a gooey texture. The crisp outer covering with a gooey filling was such a beautiful combination.
In the mains, I ate “udhiyu“, “dal dhokli“, “Gujarati kadi”, “khadavi vatana“, “paneer kathiyawadi“, “bhindi” and “pulao“. In bread I ate “Bhakri” and “thepla“. What I absolutely loved was the “Gujarati Kadi” and “Khadavi vatana”. Both the dishes had besan as prime ingredient and I could absolutely taste the difference.
For desserts, I ate “sukhdi sweet ladu” and “Mohan thaal”. Both the desserts were made in pure ghee and they were absolutely delicious. The perfect sweet ending to my royal feast.
About the Hyatt’s Cafe buffet
The cafe buffet was running Gujarati food as a week’s promotion with their existing coffee shop buffet. The buffet boasts a lavish spread from soups to salads to live chaat counters to live desserts. You name it and Hyatt’s coffee shop it to the rescue. I personally love their dessert menu. The desserts counter is huge and can easily satisfy any type of sugar craving.
They even have a live juice counter for the health conscious foodie. They even have soup, salad and dessert buffet where you can skip the mains and indulge only on these three categories of food.
