Saturday afternoon and I am all set for a beer pong tournament at Café Dalal street. Being a bloggers event, I already knew a lot of people and was looking forward to competing with them.
ABOUT THE GAME- BEER PONG
Beer Pong is a drinking game in which players throw a ping pong ball across a table with the intent of landing the ball in a cup of beer on the other end. The game typically consists of opposing teams of two or more players per side with 6 or 10 cups set up in a triangle formation on each side. Each team then takes turns attempting to shoot ping pong balls into the opponent’s cups. If a ball lands in a cup (known as a ‘make’), the contents of that cup are consumed by the other team and the cup is removed from the table. The first team to eliminate all of the opponent’s cups is the winner.
We were the team that won maximum rounds (let’s not tell the opponents we were cheating most of the time :p). Overall a fun activity which acted like an ice breaker at the event and was enjoyed by everyone equally. People were getting fun clicks and laughter could be heard everywhere. Few got inspired by us and started making their own Beer Pong rules (:p).
ABOUT THE DRINKS
I tried a lot of drinks as you can see in the cover photo but my absolute favorites were Cosmo Gol Gappa platter, Monsoon street and London Ale. Call it the monsoon or simply that Gol Gappe taste better at the Dalal street (:p), I just absolutely loved these shots. “Moonsoon street” had a beautiful combination of Roohafza with sweet paan and the base was rum. “London ale” was a beer & gin based drink with a combination of cucumber & basil. Both “Monsoon street” and “London Ale” was quiet refreshing and complimented the served food quiet well.
ABOUT THE FOOD
If after drinking so much, I am still talking about food then that means food was genuinely good. I tried a lot of dishes but I am going to list down my favorites:-
Tawa Paneer Gol Gappe
Now the inception of this dish sounded so much fun that I decided to give it a shot and I was not at all disappointed. This dish comes like any gol gappa dish but instead of “gol gappa paani” there is tomato gravy and instead of “aaloo channa” there is tawa paneer. I was quiet apprehensive about this dish but once I ate it, it was a symphony of textures. The crispness of the golgappas with the flavorful gravy was such a lovely combination. This dish gets my absolute recommendations!
Melting Burger
From their monsoon menu, I quiet enjoyed this vegetarian selection. What I absolutely loved were the flavorful patties and the soft buns. Usually (in my past experience) when restaurants color their buns, sometimes the food coloring comes in your hand and it is such a big turn off but at Café Dalal Street, I was happily delighted. Not only the bun were soft to touch, the colors made the presentation look so much better and I was looking forward to eating it.
Churros
Now these churros are not like the typical churros I am used to eating. Generally churros are crunchy on the top and have a soft center but these churros were almost hard like a breadstick. Somehow it worked for me. I quiet enjoyed munching these sugary deep fried sticks with white and dark chocolate.
Absolutely loved my experience here and looking forward to some more fun events at Café Dalal Street!
