Have you ever heard of sub-cuisines? Well, you must have, otherwise how will you be differentiating between Punjabi and Bengali food. Well so does the omnipresent Italian food have its own sub-cuisines. Although you may have tried out some of the Sicilian and Tuscan food, one of the major cuisines in Northern Italy is that of Emilia Romagna. Located in the foothills of the Alps, the food is rich, creamy and luscious and it is something I absolutely fell in love with. Although finding Italian food in Delhi has become quite easy, but finding the Emilia Romagna cuisine is pretty difficult. Artusi Ristorante located in GK-2 M Block market was one of the flagbearers of this cuisine. As owner Oscar Balcon decides to open up a store in Gurgaon, we decided to pay a visit.

Exploring Black Truffles in Artusi Ristorante in Piazza

Set on the plaza level of the Two Horizon Centre on Golf Course Road Gurgaon, I fall in love with the restaurant, from its extensive wine list to the ongoing black truffle festival. The truffle is a mystical thing indeed, grows very irregularly yet is still revered in dining cycles. The fungus grows in only very specific regions in France, Spain, and Italy and has a typical earthy, oily flavor which imparts a flavor not found anywhere else. It is displayed in all its glory with Pan Seared Scallops with a Cauliflower Puree. The addition of a few slices along with a crispy Ham adds it’s requisite aroma.

Coming back to the food of Emilia Romagna, the region has a prominent use of milk and cheese, especially Parmesan. Many of the sauces are usually based on this cheese as I tried out a Chicken grilled with some herbs, mushrooms based in a Parmesan sauce. Oscar opens up a bottle of Chianti Classico, one of my older flames so that the conversation flows much more easily. Being a native of the region, he tells me about his love for pork and pork lard. The Pork Ragu pasta, Tagliatella al Ragu is a dish which is right from his family’s kitchen, the warm, homely flavors something I totally adore.

Although I am a big fan of sweet desserts, the subtle flavors of Italian desserts with their associated tartness. Here, I find some strawberries soaked in wine along with some mascarpone cream. The abundance of tartness has me hooked. Artusi Ristorante’s authentic food from the Emilia-Romagna region is something that truly deserves a visit.

The 331st Wine Dinner of the @delhiwineclub at The Spice Route, @imperialdelhi featured some amazing wines served along with some delectable South East Asian food.  We tried out a @villasandi Prosecco, followed it up with Guwerztraminer from 19.59. In the red wines, we had a Pinot Noir and a Malbec.  The food was delectable with flavours from across South East Asia. Although there's no shortage of food onboard Royal Caribbean, one cannot miss eating at their Italian speciality restaurant Giovanni's Table.  Every meal at Giovanni’s is a celebration of rustic Italian flavours. You’ll find all your favourite Old-World classics on the menu here. Our meal started with a bread basket served with olive oil, Parmigiano Reggiano and balsamic vinegar on the side.  For starters we had the very refreshing Caprese Salad and Crispy Calamari served with lemon and garlic aioli. It was quite a task deciding on the mains with every dish on the menu being quintessential Italian classics.  While Sudipto went for the Osso Buco with creamy polenta and seasonal vegetables and I had to order my favourite Lamb Bolognese with house made spaghetti.  Do not miss asking the serving team to suggest the perfect pairing from a wine list that ranges from Sauvignon to Pinot Noir.  Finally finished the night off with a big creamy spoonful of Tiramisu.  The menu is priced at approximately 48 dollars per person for dinner and 35 dollars for Lunch and you can order an Entree, a mains along with a dessert. Sitting by the rooftop overlooking the waterfront, @oliveandseaftl is the perfect embodiment of Mediterranean food for our trip to Fort Lauderdale.  We started off with the Mezze platter which features not only the regulars including hummus, labneh, tzatziki, baba ganoush, there is also some bulgur tabbouleh and red pepper walnut relish served with some house bread, pita and lavaash.  Although there are quite a few fresh salads packed with Mediterranean flavours including one with mixed greens, goat cheese, honey roasted Squash, walnuts, apples and literally topped off with Pomegranate molasses, we tried out the Charred Crispy Octopus served with a Garlic labneh, Green Olive Tapenade and Crispy Potatoes.  For the mains, we also got ourselves some skewers cooked perfectly and served with some Tahini and a Coriander Chili relish.

We headed over to @evenkeelasolas in Fort Lauderdale to try out some fresh seafood, offering a modern take on Floridian Coastal cuisine. The restaurant has a casual yet trendy ambiance, with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's located on one of the numerous piers dotting Fort Lauderdale's waterways  We tried out the Oysters served with hot sauce, tarragon and lime along with a smoked fish dip and a shrimp ceviche. We followed it up with Himachi Poke Gyoza Tacos, grilled Octopus and a hot Lobster Roll. Often listed amongst the best beaches in the world, Anse Lazio in Praslin, Seychelles truly open gates to altogether new world. And let me tell you, reaching here was quite a journey. One has to reach the bottom of the hill to Zimbabwe either by car or bus, then one has to trek over a large forested jungle clad hill and along some way before you reach the beach. But the journey is well worth the effort with views that take your breath away perfect with fine white sands and gorgeous turquoise waters that are so clear you can watch the fish swim around you, it's no surprise Anse Lazio is frequently called 'the best beach in the world'.
