Designer duo, Ankur and Priyanka Modi paid homage to the graceful essence of Islamic culture and mughal architecture with the preview of their Fall/Winter’15 Collection, Siyāh.
The runway was amplified by asymmetrical steps that were placed to spotlight the fluidic silhouettes of the collection. Each look was further accentuated with handcrafted floral headgear and hair braids casted in XYZ metal. The models stood out for their fierce appearance which composed of bold eye makeup balanced off against delicate paan motif earrings and accessories.
Luxurious fabrics such as silk, organza and satin met Mughal romance through elegant silhouettes of draped long tunics, anarkali jackets, layered skirts and nazakat dhotis. Embroidery in Mukaish and patterns inspired by the elegant ivory inlay handcrafted on sheesham wood found in Hoshiarpur, Punjab lent the black, red and white collection a heritage accent.
“We are truly excited to showcase Siyāh at Lakme Fashion Week this season. Adding to our excitement is the fact that even though our label has been in existence for 11 years, this is our very first time at Lakme and in Mumbai! With this show we want to give our Mumbai patrons a chance to truly experience the unfiltered essence of AM:PM”, said Ankur and Priyanka Modi.
The show was well received by guests. Amongst those who came to congratulate the designers on this special occasion were friends and family such as, Anju Modi, Delna Poonawala, Manasi Scott, Varun Bahl, Sapna Pabbi, Vikram Raizada, Tina Tahiliani, Narendra Kumar, Malini Aggarwala, Hasleen Kaur, Sabina Singh and Devita Saraf.
