When I got the invite for Taj Mahal Hotel Annual Diwali celebration party, I was expecting nothing but the best and I actually received NOTHING BUT THE BEST. I knew for sure that the decorations would be spot on but what actually stole the show was their lavish food spread. Taj Mahal Hotel completely stumped me with their food. Each and every dish was so flavorful and well presented, it is any foodies dream come true!
Decor and Performances
When I entered the Taj Mahal Hotel, it was beautifully decorated with marigold flowers and candles. There is something so beautiful about a simple marigold and candle decor. When I entered the lawn, I was greeted with soulful sufi music.
What stole the night were the dance performances followed after the sufi music. The dancers were performing a fusion of jazz and Indian martial arts i.e. kalaripayattu. Through their dance performance they showcased the triumph of good over evil. There was a beautiful play of theatrical smoke and lights with the dance performance.
Food
Coming to the showstopper of the night i.e. the food. Taj Mahal Hotel left no stone unturned when it came to serving food. From cheese buffet to oysters buffet. From live tandoor to live teppanyaki grill. From doughnut bar to sushi bar. Taj Mahal Hotel really wooed us with their lavish spread.
What I really loved about the food was that each and every dish was really well thought and curated. I am personally not a big fan of buffets. How can you possibly compare a dish which is specially made for you to a dish which is kept in the open? But Taj Mahal Hotel lavish spread could have given any fine dinning restaurant a run for its money.
They didn’t take the short cut by serving the classics like Dal Makhani and hakkah noodles (like we all expect from a buffet). But they gave us a taste of each and every cuisine by serving freshly made food on each counter. There were bao’s, burgers, dumplings, grilled veggies, fresh kebabs, lambs etc; all made fresh from scratch. More than 30 chefs were on duty and serving the gathering meticulously.
Desserts
What really won me over were their desserts. Three desserts really stood out for me and each one was beautifully plated.
1. Coconut dessert- I don’t remember the exact name but the minute I think about it, I just cant stop salivating. This dessert was a play of different coconut textures. Coconut jelly topped with coconut shavings with coconut balls with coconut ice cream with coconut syrup in a coconut chocolate dome. Is it too much coconut? Naah the different textures perfectly balanced the sweetness of coconut and chocolate.
2. Blueberry dessert- This dessert was again a play of blueberry. Blueberry jelly topped with blueberry cream topped with blueberries served with a blueberry syrup on the side. Absolutely yum!
3. Guava ice cream- This dish is as simple as it sounds and that is really what worked for me. Imagine eating frozen guava. Absolutely delicious!
