‘Staring at Infinity’ (SAI) is a touching account of series of life incidents with which people cutting across age can relate to effortlessly. The story of a common man brought up in a nondescript village and working in a metro carries twin shades — simplicity of thought and complexity of the environment.
Radhey, the narrator, after his retirement looks back at his life and recounts his experiences of childhood in village as compared to fast and complex life that he had to work in, to earn a livelihood. Though he retired from a senior management position in an organisation, however, every incident, in form of a chapter unfurls an experience which all of us undergo in our daily lives, but ignore the profound learnings thrown at us by simple and everyday incidents.

The story starts when Radhey’s grandchildren visit him and Sujata at their house in Delhi. Retired now, Radhey had all the time for his grandchildren and while playing with them he realized how much of fun he missed when his children must have been young. The grandchildren were smart, intelligent, inquisitive and mischievous, just like all other children of the current age. While playing, children behaved in a particular manner which exposed the ethics which the current generation was learning through our conduct.
This made Radhey look back at his own life from his childhood with his grand-father to being a grand-father with his grandchildren. This story captures experiences of a common man which the readers very closely associate with and the underlying message is very clear. A neat and clean book, which can be read by all members of the family, SAI compels the readers to introspect and see how the reader can improve on his bearing to ensure that the younger generation gets the right learnings for a strong and a solid foundation.
