New menu at Megu
Leela Palace New Delhi
Megu at the Leela Palace New Delhi has always been a favourite of mine for Japanese food so when Chef Shimomura Kazuya joined the hotel as the Head Chef at Megu and cooked up a new menu, I decided to take a taste.
Before getting into further details, Chef Kazuya specializes in Tempura and serving Kaiseki, a traditional Japanese multi-course dinner. What he starts of us with is a medley. A medley of Goma Tofu, Simmered Duck, Tai Kimone Temarisushi, Crispy Asparagus and Cottage Cheese Teriyaki. It’s a combination of textures and flavours that I haven’t experienced before and something that you must try out.
The next course is a soup that’s absolutely perfect for the summers. The Cold Tomato soup with Snow Crab in it cools the body yet having a terrific explosion of flavours on the palate. As Chef is a Tempura master, he cooks up a Sea Urchin Tempura along with Crispy Ebi potato and a Japanese chili sauce along with some Matcha salt. For the mains, there was some Grilled Lamb Chops and Japanese styled Smoked Chicken served with a plum sauce and some Takikomi Gohan, a Japanese style fried rice.
We accompanied our meals with an ice cold Sawanotsuru Deluxe Sake that’s quite easy to drink along with Chef’s special Fruit Cup to end it all down.
