Torres Wines at Radisson Blu MBD, Noida
Noida’s first wine event and I was there. As a wine writer, it is such an a wonderful feeling when wine breaks boundaries. I have been privy to multiple wine events in both South Delhi and Gurgaon, but the state of Uttar Pradesh has never been quite receptive to wines. This is quite surprising considering the fact that quite a few youngsters stay in Noida and head all the way to the previously mentioned locations to try out their glass of wine.
White and Rose from Familia Torres
The wine event was organised by Prestige Wines and their portfolio of Torres Wines from Spain and Argentina at Radisson Blu MBD Noida. There was also a session by my good friend Col. Ravi Joshi who took us through the wines along with a beautiful presentation of their history. We started off with Santa Digna Sauv Blanc Reserva ‘15 which impresses with it’s bouquet of tropical fruits and a lovely acidity to match it as well. There’s also the De Casta Rose Wine ‘16 that I also enjoyed quite a bit before I turned my attention to the Red Wines.
The Reds from the Torres family
The Sangre Del Torro ‘16 is one from Spain and also known as Bull’s Blood. Although it is a Tempranillo based mix, but the heavy dose of Berries with harsh tannins made for a drink that can go straight from the bottle. But it is the two other reds that impress me quite a bit. The First one being the Mas La Plana 2012 which is a Cab Sauv which starts off with Red Berries before building up into a medley of Oak and Leathery, Tobacco notes before a set of well-matured tannins coat your palate. The Second one is the Gran Coronas 2013 Reserva 2013 which is another Cab Sauv from the stables of Torres Wines and impresses quite a bit with its rich Berry notes and mature tannins.
The wines were accompanied with some delectable food by the Chef Ritesh Negi‘s team at Radisson Blu MBD Noida
