Chinese has always meant Chinjabi to Delhiites. One childhood memory of every Delhiite is that Pan Fried noodles with bits of vegetables and chicken thrown in. Slather on some ketchup and soy sauce and you get noodles. But Delhi is slowly getting bored of all this stuff. As the Indian goes global, there has been a need for authentic Chinese food in the city. Me Kong Bowl, a new food truck in Gurgaon fills that segment beautifully with some authentic Chinese home delivery.
What I ordered from Me Kong Bowl?
The food arrives in beautifully sealed packages. I had ordered one of my favourite Thai salads, the Som Tam. It arrives in three separate packages with the sliced papaya, peanuts and dressing in separate containers. On tasting the sweet, spicy and sour dressing, my mother nearly devours half of the dressing before leaving a miniscule quantity for me. I pour the rest into my raw papaya and let the explosion of flavours engulf me.
The Prawn Dimsum stays true to its taste with simple yet strong flavours with a paper thin covering. The reason my sister ordered it is because she lives the watery crunch that exudes from a good one. The one from Me Kong Bowl does the same. The Honey Sriracha Prawns is also ordered due to its extravagant name. I love dishes which have a bit of sweetness attached to it and this dish lives upto it’s name. The double hit of sweetness stands out as a highlight for the dinner. I like my noodles to be engulfed in a sauce but the Chicken Garlic Noodles holds its stead with some surreptitiously authentic tastes. We combine it with an Chicken in Oyster Sauce which counteracts the sweetness from the previous dish with it’s lovely salty flavour.
