Scotch whisky in all it’s glory is slowly but steadily gaining a popular fan following amongst the Indian whisky drinkers. To further this penchant for a good Single Malt, Diageo organising a Single Malt Scotch Whisky- Indian food pairing. Led by Diageo‘s ambassador Dan Jones, Le Meridien New Delhi’s Nero hosted an evening full of laughter, stories of legend, some scrumptious delights and a load of Singleton whisky and our Editor Sudipto De attended it.
Why should I go here?
Now let’s dig into a few of the stories of legend that make Scottish whisky what it is today. The first course included the flavours typical of Delhi Chaat. A selection of pakoras served up with Tom Price Collins. The combination of spice from the pakoras, the sweetness from the cocktail is a pretty good one. The second course combined the famous Singleton in an interesting avatar along with Delhi ki Chaat. The spicy and tang of flavours combined with the fresh yet sweet flavours from the mango marmalade based cocktail acts as a beautiful consortium of flavours.
But it was the next combination that stood out for the evening. The Dilli ka Ram Laddu paired with a twist on one of my favourite drinks, The Old Fashioned. The mélange of flavours that hits your palate is something that you’ll fall in love with. There is sweet, spice, bitter, sour and salt all in one place. The last pairing consists of a Vodka Panipuri with a heavy dose of pomegranates loaded onto it.
Where, How, When?
You can catch all these flavours and much more at the Singleton Street Fair on 17th September at Le Meridien New Delhi from 5-7PM. The event is priced at INR 1500. Let us know which pairing is the one you like the most.
