A Schengen visa allows you to wander all over the European union. Schengen Deli and Bistro does the same with the food. Spreading from the Urals in the east to the Alps in the west, from the chilly winters of London to the balmy summers of Sicily, Chef Piyush Jain’s food explodes on your palate and leaves behind a piece of amalgamation that comprises the European culture.

The eatery spans across three floors and doubles up as a deli on the ground floor, a terrace on the first and a bar on the second. Located in the most apt place it could be at Malcha Marg, this place draws heavily from the expat crowd coming in from the diplomatic enclave.

The Bulgarian Sour Lamb Soup ( INR 275 ) impresses with soft lamb in a slightly sour concoction. The Hearty Chicken Soup ( INR 255 ) on the other hand is a more earthy flavoured one with beautifully curated pieces of Chicken meatballs.

The Rocket, Apple and Walnut salad ( INR 325 ) brings together the citrusy green apple along with the crunchy walnuts. Bring that altogether on a base of rocket leaves and a sour balsamic dressing and you got a drool worthy recipe. The House Smoked Salmon salad ( INR 355 ) amalgamates the slightly salted wonderfully smoked with the creamy horseradish.

The Prawns and Scallops ( INR 595 ) impress on a gargantuan scale. Delicately marinated pieces of prawns and scallops, still retaining that frames of water, dunked in a sinful butter garlic sauce. The caramelisation on the brioche lends a perfect balance to this manna from heaven.

The Cold Mezze Platter ( INR 545 ) spins together the sour earthy flavours of middle east. The earthiness from the hummus to the richness of the babaganoush mish mashed together with the sour pickled vegetables makes for a content belly.

No 6 ( INR 575 ) is a thin crust wood fired pizza from the innards of Italy. Made exclusively for the carnivore, this pizza heaps smoked sausages, chicken, bacon, pepperoni and anchovies on a crispy thin white base and cheese that drools off you. This meat crazy pizza does not commit the Hara Kiri of overburdening itself and losing taste of each of it’s components.

The Seafood Paella ( INR 595 ) from Spain is delectably creamy and filled with a smattering of spices and prawns.

The Chicken Goulash ( INR 595 ) impresses upon you the hard rugged Viking flavours. The Spicy Rolled Tenderloin ( INR 595 ) is a roller coaster ride of meaty heaven and zingy spices served on the bed of potato mash and a sinus clearing sauce.

End your meal with a delectably bitter Tiramisu ( INR 275 ). The Red Velvet ( INR 275 ) spins a combination of citrusy cheesy flavour with the sweetness of beetroot. The Blueberry Cheesecake ( INR 275 ) does not jump at you yet retains its flavours.
