The Andaz New Delhi has always been one of my favourite hotels, with its easy casual luxury and some lovely nutritious food, most of which is also available for retail. The newest entry on their block, is a bespoke eatery by the name of Soul Pantry. Soul Pantry is a relaxing space that offers the best of nutritious food, there are some pizzas made with alternate grains along with a good selection of salads and cold pressed juices and other beverages.

One look at the menu and I am already in love with it. I decide to order the Puffed Rice Salad. Quite similar to the Jhaal Moori I have eaten numerous times on the trains when visiting my hometown in West Bengal. But the Jhaal Moori here is quite different, it isn’t made only of the puffed rice that I am so accustomed to. Instead, there are a number of alternative grains that are slowly but steadily rediscovering their utility in the modern world. Sprinkled with peanuts, tomatoes and a whole lot of lime, this is one Artisanal Rice Bowl that I am definitely coming back for.

Let’s get to the flatbreads now. Available in three different sizes and all kinds of alternative grains like Ragi, Amaranth and even Millets, I decide to dig in. The first of these was the vegetarian Levantine favours. Lined up with some Avocado Hummus and bits of tangy Avocado and Crispy Chickpea and Fresh Mint, it is a burst of flavours that you must try out. The next one that I decide to try out is the Goan Chorizo along with Potatoes, Caramelised Onions, Potato, Belkot Cheese and Tomato. There are quite a few other flavours including the Pork Belly with Barbeque Sauce and the Chef speciality Herb Spiced Chicken. These flatbreads also double up as desserts, as I find out with the Baked Yoghurt served with Blue Berry.

You can either treat yourself to a cold brew lemonade spiked with some Jaggery or an Espresso shot of the Barbara Pulp Sun Dried Coffee or even some artisanal tea from No.3 Clive Road. The Soul Pantry also offers you a selection of a salad, a flatbread and a Beverage, all for INR 600. So next time, you have some hunger pangs that you would want to take out with some healthy nourishment, head to the Soul Pantry at the Andaz New Delhi.
