Whenever Navratras are round the corner we start fretting over it because there is so much to think and plan ahead. For e.g : to eat chicken in generous quantities to satiate our insatiable soul and to drown in a hangover which will be enough to last the nine days. There is no doubt that we already sacrifice a lot to make our gods happy during the navratas but these nine days often turn out to be monotonous since we have been binging on the same fasting food which our mothers or grandmothers used to gorge on. Instead of sticking to our goal of eating healthy, we end up stuffing our mouths with variants of fried potatoes and chips.
Well, don’t ponder over it more because you might end up giving yourself an ulcer. We got you covered because Team Salt and Sandals has been checking out Navratre menus all over the city.
This time, we have got our very beloved Parsi restaurant SodaBottleOpenerWala.
The restaurant has come out with an elaborate navratri menu which can make you drool even after the nine days. Who knew that a Parsi restaurant can be so thoughtful about Navratras that they have followed the Vrat rules to the point?!
To start with the feast, they have Kera Na Cutlets which are made from raw bananas.

They also have an underrated and unexpected element on their menu which is Gwarfali. They have incorporated this bean in the form of a cutlet along with a wee bit of cottage cheese which makes the cutlet so soft and moist makes you wanna go dig into it more.

The main course has been kept simple yet classy. They offer kaddu ki sabzi which is khatta (sour) and meetha (sweet) at the same time. It’s a perfect balance of spices and not just your regular kaddu ki sabzi which is more towards the meetha side.

We all know that “ Vrat Ka Khaana “ is incomplete without Aloo ki Sabzi which they have made just like any home style preparation without tomatoes because apparently, some people avoid tomatoes during navratre *touched for the very first time*, so thoughtful! We are sure it will take you to a trip down the memory lane when you would dive into the Aloo Ki Sabzi prepared by your grandmother.

They also have Vrat Ke Chawal or Sama Ke Chawal which is nothing but barnyard millet pulav and Kuttu Atta Poori.

The dessert is a modern take on the old school Sabudana Ki Kheer. Tapioca pearls cooked in milk and flavoured with cardamom has officially stolen our hearts also because they offer it with a mango garnishing on the top.

Team Salt and Sandals advises you to ask your mothers and grandmothers to take a break from that tiring kitchen job of making all the Vrat ka Kaana and to check this menu out at the nearest SodaBottleOpenerWala outlet with them from 8th – 16th April, 12 p.m. onwards.
