The new menu at Sorrento

New menus are always exciting, especially when a new chef comes to town. Chef Guiseppe Angelica is the new entrant into Delhi’s Italian scene as he takes command of Sorrento at the Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel New Delhi. The new menu features a plethora of dishes that represent the true character of Italy. The change that this menu has from the previous one is the use of the Pan Italian cuisines instead of just the Amalfi coast.

We start off with the classic Burrata, but this time paired with a quinoa base and a drizzle of olive oil on top. Although his dishes are quite literally, full of flavour but it’s the Dual Ravioli that has me impressed. Two Ravioli, one lamb and one potato both cooked together in a sauce that amalgamates both of them perfectly.

We also decide to try out the Chef’s special Meatball Spaghetti along with the Tenuta di Scaia Corvina ’15 and also a Cod cooked with a mash that we combine with the Le Rime Toscana Banfi. Both combinations go down perfectly as an adage to Italian food and wine pairings.

One of the Chef Guiseppe’s most wonderful creations is the Tiramisu sprinkled over with the essence of coffee that gives it a whole new dimension altogether. You must head to Sorrento to try out the new menu as a burst of traditional Italian flavours explode on your palate.
