Sorrento is one of our favourite places to eat Italian food in Delhi and the restaurant has become the battlegrounds from some of the best Italian chefs to woo the Delhiites with their Italian flavours. This time, it is the chance of Chef Massimiliano Sperli who is planning to cook up his flavours from back home.

Sorrento

Any Chef which tries to woo a Bengali with a fish at the starting of a meal is our favourite and Chef Sperli does exactly that. He cooks up a sweet Black cod which he has fried in a parsley and basil butter and served along with a red capsicum and thyme sauce and a fennel and orange zest salad. The sweetness of the cod along with the zingy, zesty flavours is the perfect start to this meal.

For pasta there is an agnolotti filled with eggplant along with some smoked scarmoza cheese and grilled calamari and artichokes with mint sauce. The vegetarians also don’t get left behind as he serves out a tortellini filled with potato, ricotta and rosemary in a Beetroot saute having the essence of black Truffle.

One dish that really has us fawning over Chef Sperli’s cooking is the roasted Lamb served with Mushrooms, Black olives, ham saute, some more black Truffle, mascarpone cheese and dried prunes along with a grape must compote. The combination of these flavours lifted the lamb to an all new level altogether and is something that you must try out.

We end our meal with two of Chef Sperli’s beautiful desserts. The first one is a Passion fruit Pannacotta served with a white chocolate and cardamom sauce and a cold press Olive oil ice cream and some cookie crumble too. The second one is Semifreddo of Gianduia Chocolate, orange and pistachio ganache heart, coconut praline, star anise tuiles and served in a pure mango emulsion.

Do head over to the Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel New Delhi to try out this new Italian menu soon.
