It was a warm Thursday afternoon when my mom and I decided to go to a restaurant few ‘mothers’ had suggested, Little.Big. Located at Baani The Address in Sector-56 Gurgaon, the location seemed odd as there was a Porsche and BMW showroom in the mall beside this restaurant. But as soon as I saw the restaurant it made an exciting impression on me as one side was the kid’s area and the other side was the restaurant.

I entered the play area as I was curious to know what made it different. And trust me it was a different play area as it not only has kids playing but the concept involves learning and recognition of colours, shapes, sizes etc. Being in the theme of a Glider, the play area was 100% kids proof with no sharp corners and soft beds everywhere. They like to call the playing area as “Pretend Play”. and it is suitable for kids from 1yr up to 7 years.
They also have lovely girls who take care of the kids while you enjoy a meal.

Let’s talk about the main restaurant now. The lighting was fresh and bright along with a completely transparent kitchen. A flight of stairs leading to the show kitchen where the kids could actually see ‘what’s cooking’. Amidst this natural bright light restaurant was an Aquarian which they call the eco-system of the restaurant as it balances the harmony of the entire place. The table and the cutlery were carefully designed again keeping in mind the kids- no sharp corners, soft foam base below the tables in case your child bangs his head under the table. I sat with Madhuri who was not only friendly but very passionate about explaining the entire concept of the restaurant. It was for her child and her partner’s children where this restaurant was conceptualized as literally there is no place where kids can enjoy their games while the parents have a peaceful meal in Gurgaon.

And then we ordered food. We first ordered a Mezze Platter, sweet potato and quinoa salad and fries with homemade ketchup. Mezze Platter was exactly how it should be with the regular hummus, pita and more. However, noteworthy was the salad. I am a very salad person and enjoy a genuine salad. I like to call a good salad a genuine salad. Because nowadays people just put greens and call it a salad. But this sweet potato and quinoa salad was a salad that I can eat every day. Extremely refreshing, crunchy, tangy and sweet. Although Sweet potato can sometimes be overpowering, in this case, it balanced quite well with quinoa. I was pleasantly surprised to taste their homemade ketchup which wasn’t sticky or tasted like preservatives. Yummy, tangy, sweet and salty homemade ketchup with fries!!!

After that came the mains. The first of these was Lamb Kafte with celery mash. Although the Kefta in itself is quite similar to ones you can find in a lot of places, the celery mash was quiet enjoyable! Peanut butter Noodles. Yes you heard/read it right. Peanut butter noodles. It for sure would be the best friend of all kids and not just kids, Adults like us also would enjoy it. Every bite of noodles had a creamy and crispy punch of peanut butter. It was an overload which I loved. Then came my two favourite dishes.
The Nasi Goreng made me feel like I was in Indonesia. They did complete justice to the dish as the Fried rice was topped with succulent pieces of veggies, chicken and topped with absolutely perfectly done sunny side egg.
Another justice to my tummy as well as to the pork was the dish I had Pork Belly with Fried Rice and Baek Kimchi. Perfectly done pork with seasoning and glaze which matched my palate along was a bit of crunchy fried rice and Baek Kimchi. The Baek Kimchi also called white kimchi is a preparation without tchililli powder and is very commonly prepared in Korean cuisine. Each bite of the pork was juicy and paired well with the fried rice which was a bit sticky in a good sense.

This is a complete family place who enjoy good food or for parents who want to have a peaceful meal while their kids play. I think it’s a great concept!!! with a decent pricing and portion size. They also adapt their food to all kinds allergies and honour to people’s tastes and preferences and is a favourite place for kids Birthday parties.
