Well, I have been having quite a bit of Mediterranean food over the past few months. So when the Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel New Delhi brought over a Lebanese Chef Walid, I headed over there to try up some authentic Lebanese grills and their world-famous Shawarma.

Now, Delhi has been exposed to Lebanese food from quite some time now, so much so that it even surprised Chef Walid to know that most of his customers knew the food already. But before I dig into the meat Shwarma that he has prepared for me, I discuss how the one has been manipulated into flavours that suit Indians quite a bit more. There’s a bit more of Yogurt and sauces to give it that particular flavour which we have all come to enjoy.

But Shwarma isn’t the only that interests me in Lebanese food. It’s also their grills which are served alongside a plethora of sauces, made into a Mezze platter back home in Delhi. I try out some delicious Chicken Shish Touk along with some Grilled Prawns that are an explosion of flavour upon the palate.

Although I quite enjoyed the authentic flavours by Chef Walid, what really stuck with me are the drinks he had created based of flavours back home and named them after some of the villages. The Kamaraldin is made with Apricot shrub while the Tamarhandi with Tamarind Shrub and the Laban Blnanna is quite similar to our salty Lassi. After eating so much, we decided to finish up with some Baklava and Turkish Coffee.
