The royal cuisines of our land are something that are making quite a comeback into the food scene of Delhi. One of the recent ones is the Rampuri Cuisine which is on display at K3, JW Marriott New Delhi and is something that you must try out. The festival is being organised in collaboration with a team of chefs who are the third generation of the Khansaamas who actually used to serve the Nawabs. Surprisingly unlike many of the cuisines which are getting lost in the pages of history, the recipes of the Rampuri royal family are stored at the Reza Library, one of Asia’s oldest ones.

Have you tried out the Rampuri cocktails?

There are quite a few cocktails to start off including the Achaartini which I fell in love with. Based on Vodka, traditional flavours of Achaar have been doused with honey and some sour bitters to make for quite a unique mix of flavours. A few of the other cocktails catch my eye too including the Rampuri which uses the traditional spices on a dark Rum and The Royal Lagoon which works as a twist on the Old Fashioned.

Rampuri Kebabs are really scrumptious

The area by the pool has a tandoori setup which offers some of the best Kebabs that Rampuri cuisine has to offer. The Mewa Mawa Shami Kebab is distinctly different from any other Kebab I have tasted before, all thanks to it’s inherent sweetness. The Kachche Gosht Ki Tikia and Murgh Sondhi offers the necessary meat in the diet. Accompanied by a Roomali Roti and a Tomato chutney, I literally created a platter of Rampuri food for myself.

But all the chef’s true work comes to fore with his mains and this is where this festival ramps it to the next level. Not only does he impress with the non vegetarian fare with a Tar Qorma and Murgh Changeezi, the vegetarian fare including the Katthal Korma piqued my taste buds in the proper way. Combined with the special Rampuri Haradhaniya Roti and Khameeri Kulcha, the festival offers you flavours that are quite different from the traditional Mughlai fare. The rare Gosht Ka Halwa also makes an appearance here along with a Gulethi that is the perfect way to end the meal.
