The tranquil surroundings, the slow rustling of the water and the soft music start your rejuvenation process right from the moment you enter. We book ourselves in for the Hot Stone Massage therapy(INR 4838 AI). My therapist Irene guides me to their prime couple therapy suite. The room has two massage beds, a Jacuzzi, a dressing area and a shower cum steam room.
We start off with a traditional foot ritual, an ancient tradition symbolizing a purifying of the soul to open the positive energy channel. The Hot Stone massage starts off with application of a oil that you choose. The range starts from mixtures like Detox, relax and also consists of Indian rose and jasmine. It is followed with application of heated asphalt stones. Let it be at a temperature where it stings, but just lightly. That’s just the correct temperature of the stones that you should be applying. The stones impart a heat that slowly loosens up all those tense knots. Irene also imparts a number of diagonal stretches to free up the muscles even more. A flatter stone is used to roll over the stretched muscles so as smoothen them out. But the most essential part of the massage is the use of pressure by the smooth stones instead of fingers. This is the part which sets this massage apart from the others. You won’t really realize where the fingertips end and where the stone starts.
This is one of the most relaxing massages that you’ll ever have. Do try it out and let us know your comments about it.

The theory of Ayurveda understands the five elements as the root cause of existence, a metaphysics common to all ancient cultures. The five elements appear in different combinations in each of us and form our unique individuality. They work in combination to form the tri-dosha system, including; Vata Dosha, representing ether and air; Pita Dosha representing fire and water; and Kapha Dosha, representing water and earth. Your Ayurvedic doctor acts as a guide to help you bring about more of the elements you lack by restructuring your lifestyle. Every course of Ayurvedic treatment begins with an in-depth personal examination, or Prakruti analysis, to identify the exact balance of elements ruling your body and mind. Book yourself in for one of their most invigorating massage therapies, the Abhyangam (INR 4200) and the Sirodhara (INR 4500).

After a long journey from Delhi to Agra, I was in a dire need of a good massage (actually I am ALWAYS in a dire need of a good massage :p). After hearing a lot of positives about ALIVE spa, Radisson Blue Taj EastGate, I decided to give it a try. We were greeted with warmth and a big smile at the ALIVE reception, I could smell the fragrance of essential oils and somehow it mentally made my whole body feel relaxed.
We started by filling out a form which spoke about allergies and different problems we might be facing. On the basis of our forms, the therapist suggested me few massages. She told me the most popular massage is the Swedish Massage, so I decided to give it a try.
About Swedish massage
Swedish massage is a light to moderate pressure massage consisting of long and circular gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. It is a 60 minute session of massage to loosen tightened up muscles and eke out sore nerves. Long strokes are used to spread out the contracted muscles. The massage ends with a few minutes in the steam room to sweat out your toxins and a shower or to feel all prim and content.
When I entered the therapy room- I felt like a queen. ALIVE spa rooms were luxuriously designed (like a queens chamber :p) and had a really good feel factor, I could smell the essential oils getting heated and I was really looking forward to the therapy. Before the therapy, we were served Jasmine Tea to start our internal cleansing. I changed into a robe and as discussed, long strokes were used on my sore muscles. The strokes were light but they took care of all the problem areas. I was trying too hard to not to doze off and mentally saying “Astha you have to blog about it, STAY UP (:p)!!” The strokes were really relaxing, after the massage I went for steam. Immediately after the steam, I had such a boost of energy. Maybe it was the release of toxins during the steam or the relaxing massage or the combination of both, either ways the massage did its magic and as promised I felt rejuvenated.
On my stay at Radisson, I even got a chance to review Latitude, Colorbar and Daawat-E-Nawaab. To know my review on these restaurants and the absolute “must haves”, simply click on the names of the restaurants and you’ll be directed to their review page. I’ll be soon uploading my review on the property, stay tuned! 🙂
