An oasis of calm within the environs of the metropolis is hard to imagine. But The Roseate is here to bust all your myths. With large open lush green areas all around, this hotel is the perfect place to relax even if you are within the confines of a city. The Aheli Spa offers a perfect accompaniment to your rejuvenation. With an impressive spa menu, Aheli is your one stop destination of rejuvenation.
The Aheli Spa
The Aheli Spa has five rooms including three single ones, one couple and a special Hamam which offers the famed Turkish baths. These warm baths are infused with oils and are the perfect place to sweat out toxins post a massage. The spa is characteristic of the hotel, open areas with the Sun streaming in through large windows. I sit down to muse as Spa Director Sushma guides me through the menu over a cup of peppermint tea. I choose the Aheli Signature treatment (INR 6500) which has an amalgamation of therapies all rolled into one.
The Spa Rooms
The spa rooms are tastefully yet minimalistically decorated. A large table takes its place after a two sided dressing table. There are curtained changing rooms along with a lavatory and shower cum steam room. The toiletries are Kama Ayurveda products. The chair for the foot massage has a padding on the back making it really pleasurable when you lie back.
Aheli Signature Massage
The massage starts with a litany of stretching techniques. All those poses you see in spa photographs, yes all of those. My therapist them uses Pine wood oil and slowly starts to ease out the knots. There is serial alternation between using the fingers and forearms for maintaining pressure. She progresses systematically over the back, legs and arms before turning attention to the chest and head.
Do try out the Aheli Signature Massage at the Aheli spa, The Roseate New Delhi to rejuvenate you back and throw you back into the daily grind.

I was suggested to try the Wellness Body massage (back, shoulder, legs and head), so I decided to give it a try.
Wellness Body Massage.
People may think of a massage as a simple indulgence, but it is a great tool for overall health and well-being. Body massage helps to ease pain and help with inflammation while soothing stress and anxiety. There are many practical benefits to treating your body to a massage. The spa houses the whole range of wellness regimes starting from The Welcome Signature massage, deep tissue massage to rejuvenating body treatments which includes body polishing using sandalwood and turmeric. The spa boasts of two single rooms, a couple therapy rooms, a large waiting area for you to just unwind and relax before and after your therapy.
As I walked in, the room was turned into a comfortable den. I could smell the essential oils getting heated. I changed into a robe and settled myself to get the therapy started. The lights were turned low, aromatic candles were lit and gentle music was played to contribute creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere for the massage.
Given a choice, I chose pleasantly aromatic lavender oil for my therapy. My therapist began massaging my feet with the warm lavender oil and worked her way up to the legs. Then moved from the lower to upper back to loosen up the knots tensed knots and stressed back muscles. Continuing to do the neck and shoulders, then the hands and the arms and finishing with a head oil massage. These essential oils really seep into your skin and help you to reach an ultimate state of relaxation and rejuvenation. The strokes were light but the therapist took care of all the sore and tired muscles of my body. After my therapy, I went for a hot shower. Immediately after the shower, I had a boost of energy and a feeling of Wellness as I was promised.

Tourism is a double edged sword in India. Although it brings in a lot of money and employment for locals, but over exploitation of the natural beauty leads to disturbance in the local ecosystem. Specially in an ecosystem as fragile as that of the forests, unregulated and irresponsible tourism can cause unmitigated destruction of the wildlife. This is where Singinawa Jungle Lodge stands out. Their motto of ecologically responsible tourism means that the natural habitat of the forest area is preserved. Not only this, their promotion of local artisans and villagers leads them to lead a better life.
This ecologically responsible resort allows you to rejuvenate yourself and plunge back into the grind of your daily life. Do try out this place when coming to the central part of India. You can make your bookings here.

My love for horses started with Bryan Adams’ famous album Here I Am. The free spirited charge of a black stallion in an open field is a sight to behold. This is what we witnessed about 30 kms from Jodhpur at Mihirgarh which is under the house of Rohet.
Some Horses will Test You Some will Teach you AND some will Bring Out the Best in You…!! As The royal Marwari Horses walk away complacently into the canvassing wilderness… I shall stay and capture them in my lense..!! Thank you so much @mihir_garh @house_of_rohet for hosting us and letting us experience these marvellous jewels.. The horses we are going to show you are the Marwar breed of horses. Contrary to popular belief, the ancestor of the horse Shivalisis is believed to have originated in the foothills of Himalayas. The Marwar horse is a close relative of the same. It enjoyed quite an exalted position in many cavalries across India. But with the coming of British, as was the case with many superior Indian practices it too fell out of favour. They were sold off to people without any knowledge of horse keeping. Breeding lines were diluted with multiple interbreeding. The independence with a further dissolution of the princely states struck a further nail in the coffin.
Slowly but steadily, the royals and the vassals of the princely states of India are reviving this lost breed. One such is the House of Rohet. The man behind the revival is Thakur Sidharth Singh , the 14 generation of the Rohet family to reside their 400 year old home now a heritage hotel, Rohet Garh. The stables at both the properties house about 15 horses and they offer unique equestrian experiences to their guests, a rarity amongst the hotels of India.
We were lucky to experience the flight of their horses. Four mares who gave the perfect poses for selfies along with a two month old foal who was still unsteady of its feet. But the star of the day was Sharang, a prodigy of the prolific horse Shandaar. Extremely strong, his flight against the stark backdrop of Rajasthani wilderness is a sight to behold. He shows off a bit of his skills to the camera as we enter the paddock. He does so by running extremely close and then changing directions a few inches away from you.
The Equestrian Experience
The Equestrian program is available on request and tailored to suit the riding capabilities. There are three types of programs you can avail. The first one is a day ride into the wilderness and visiting the villages of rural Rajasthan. A larger program entails an overnight stay at a desert camp. A royal meal is something that will give you an experience of hunting like the royalty. But it’s the last option I liked the most. We got on our horses and rode to the nearby village of Luni and then to Rohet. The sandy, semi arid region is perfect for the horses to ride.
These magnificent horses are not just used for riding but also for equestrian events like Dressage and show jumping. Watching these amazing creatures is once in a lifetime experience. You should definitely visit Mihir Garh to experience the stellar stable of Marwar horses there.
Rajasthan has been a strong hold of the Rajputana. The royal families built a plethora of forts and palaces all over the desert countryside. With the accession of these princely states post Independence, many of them were converted into boutique hotels. Although the Rajasthani fanfare and royal comforts are very enjoyable, a break in between all the history is much needed. The WelcomHotel, Jodhpur is one such modern amenity.
The WelcomHotel is fashioned after the desert itself. Not adhering to the traditional concept of fort hotels in the heart of Rajasthan, this ITC hotel‘s gem flows boundless like the desert. The are some very interesting concepts that will make your stay in Jodhpur that much more interesting.
Executive Chef Akshraj Jodha’s food is experimental and something that you must try out.

Two dishes that I missed to tell you during my last post were during Lunch. The beautifully adorned Desert Rose hosts our meals The Mayo Mutton Curry is a throwback to the mutton curry made in Mayo College, Ajmer. He puts the mutton curry on top of a Bajre ke Roti. Now a Bajre ki Roti is something that is very dry. But the juices and the sauces from the meat soften up this Indian bread. The next dish that draws our attention is the Thar Pulao. The arid desert of Rajasthan has a lack of rice dishes. But this one comes from the areas of Sindh and gives out a complexities of flavours, akin to a Biryani.
